Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has criticized the current government for making false promises before coming to power, noting that the public has borne the consequences.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake said the government is now shifting to the right while having previously signaled to the left. “Despite presenting one image on stage, the government has now had to face reality,” he remarked.
He added that this shift is necessary, but emphasized that the path built on falsehoods is always short-lived.
