Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake emphasized that governments must focus on creating economic opportunities by removing obstacles for investors.
Speaking to the media, he noted that investors are reluctant to maintain businesses and industries in a country where they face high taxes, steep interest rates, expensive infrastructure services such as fuel and water, and high salary obligations.
“The government should remove obstacles rather than create them to foster healthy competition,” Karunanayake said, highlighting that the trade sector is inherently complex and challenging.
