Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake raised concerns in Parliament regarding the investigation report into the murder of journalist Lasantha Wickramatunga.
He said he had requested the government to finalize the relevant reports and present their current status to Parliament.
The MP explained that he had submitted a question to the Speaker’s Office directed to the Prime Minister, but was informed that no answer could be provided due to ongoing court proceedings.
He pointed out that Parliament receives answers to questions related to other matters, such as the Easter attacks, the Express Pearl ship incident, and the drug issue, even though legal proceedings are also ongoing in those cases.
The MP added that it is regrettable that certain incidents are being handled in a selective or double-standard manner in this context.
