Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, has alleged that certain public officials lack practical knowledge in their areas of expertise.
Speaking to the media, he stated that such officials sometimes make decisions affecting critical sectors of the country, including exports, without fully understanding the implications.
Karunanayake added that these officials often show little responsibility or awareness of complex issues like taxation and the challenges these policies create.
“The country’s problems are not serious issues for those who continue to receive monthly salaries and pensions after retirement,” he said, contrasting this with the private sector, where practical expertise and accountability drive decision-making.
