Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has said that Sri Lanka should adopt a strategic approach in responding to tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in the United States.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake stressed that the key lies in managing U.S. tariffs in coordination with India. He suggested that Washington could consider using Sri Lanka as a platform to establish a trade agreement with India.
The MP further noted that since a trade agreement already exists between Sri Lanka and India, such an arrangement would bring economic benefits to the country while strengthening its strategic importance in the region.
