Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has emphasized that Sri Lanka must leverage foreign policy effectively in order to strengthen its economy amidst ongoing challenges.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake noted that India has managed U.S. tax-related pressures while continuing to engage in trade with Russia, a move supported by its robust economy and international confidence.
He stressed that Sri Lanka’s way forward lies in boosting exports while curbing imports. “Building a strong economy based on local production is equally vital at this time,” the MP added.
