Ravi Karunanayake Supports Local Elections but Calls for Fewer Representatives

Former UNP Deputy Leader and MP Ravi Karunanayake has welcomed the decision to hold local government elections, emphasizing the importance of allowing people to voice their opinions.

Speaking to the media, he noted that the current government, despite its pledge to cut election expenses, appears to be planning for nearly 8,900 representatives in this election.

Karunanayake revealed that he has submitted a private member’s proposal to reduce this number to around 5,000 and hopes for its implementation in the future.
