Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has emphasized the importance of giving priority to the United States in global trade and economic dealings.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake pointed out that even China, despite its differences with Washington, continues to engage in trade negotiations with the US.
He stressed that gaining access to the American market through exports is crucial, noting that no other country possesses an economy of such scale and influence.
“Discussing exports without considering the US is pointless,” he said, underscoring the central role of the US in global commerce.
