Ravi Raises Concern Over Delay in Implementing Single Window System

October 6, 2025

Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, voiced his concerns over the failure to implement the Single Window system—a trade facilitation initiative—despite years of efforts.

Speaking to the media, he highlighted that, despite changes in government over the years, policies regarding the system have remained stagnant.

MP Karunanayake also pointed out that obstacles from certain government officials have hindered progress, with some reportedly fearing job losses due to the introduction of the system.

The Single Window concept is designed to simplify trade by allowing traders and businesses to submit standardized information and documents through a single entry point, fulfilling all regulatory requirements for import, export, and transportation.
