Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, commented on the recently disclosed assets and liabilities of certain current government representatives and the related allegations.
He expressed his approval of the increase in their assets but questioned why these officials had previously claimed to have no assets while in opposition.
MP Karunanayake noted that the rise in individual wealth is a natural outcome of an open economy and emphasized that the UNP has no objection to it.
He further highlighted that the UNP has always been a party that celebrates the economic progress of the nation’s people, distinguishing it from others.
