Rear Seat Belt Rule to Be Enforced on Expressways and Long-Distance Travel

 Transport Minister Bimal Rathnayake has announced that passengers seated in the rear of vehicles will now be required to wear seat belts while traveling on expressways and during long-distance journeys.

The Minister stated that this new regulation will be strictly and regularly enforced moving forward.

In addition, he confirmed that, effective from the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, all drivers engaged in passenger transport services must also wear seat belts at all times.
