Rebuilding the United National Party (UNP) is not a difficult task, says former Deputy Leader and Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake.
Speaking in an interview with CeylonWire, Karunanayake stated that restoring the party to its former strength would be easy if two individuals—whom he described as “ghosts”—along with a few of their supporters, were removed from the party.
He added that these disruptive figures were responsible for driving some members away from the UNP. According to him, once these individuals are ousted, those who left can be brought back into the fold.
Karunanayake emphasized that this would pave the way for the UNP to rebuild itself into a strong and united political family.
