Widespread Showers Forecast Across Multiple Regions Today

The Department of Meteorology has forecast intermittent showers today (24) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Occasional rainfall is also expected in parts of the North-Western Province.

In addition to the wet weather, strong winds ranging from 55 to 60 kmph are likely over the western slopes of the central hills and across the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Central provinces, including the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts. Other areas of the island may also experience fairly strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph.

The public is urged to take necessary safety precautions to minimize potential damage caused by gusty winds.
