The number of dengue and chikungunya cases in the country continues to rise steadily, according to Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni.
Dr. Wijemuni warned that both diseases are evolving into a serious public health issue and urged individuals experiencing fever symptoms to seek immediate medical attention.
Commenting on the reported medicine shortage in hospitals, the Deputy Minister clarified that while reports suggest a shortage of 180 types of medicines, the actual number currently in short supply is closer to 45.
He assured the public that the Ministry of Health is actively addressing the issue to ensure the availability of essential medicines.
