MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena was notably absent from today’s parliamentary session, during which he was expected to face questions from the Minister of Finance regarding the importation of vehicles.
According to reports, the MP’s absence is linked to allegations involving his daughter, who is reportedly under investigation for her alleged involvement in the illegal assembly of a vehicle. It is also reported that both she and her husband are facing imminent arrest.
Officials from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) had visited their residence to carry out the arrests, but the couple was reportedly not present at the location.
