Sanctions Must Be Addressed Collectively – Former Foreign Minister

Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, has emphasized the need for a united diplomatic approach in addressing international sanctions.

Speaking to the media, Karunanayake reflected on his tenure as Foreign Minister, stating that Sri Lanka has historically faced challenges from the international community but has navigated them strategically with a strong national spirit.

Responding to a journalist’s question regarding the recent British sanctions on four individuals, including three former army commanders, he warned that failure to act appropriately could lead to broader consequences. He stressed that if such measures extend beyond individuals to the entire country, it would result in collective unfair treatment.

The MP urged the government to provide a firm and effective diplomatic response, highlighting the importance of national unity in resolving the issue.
