The Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill for 2025 was passed in Parliament today (February 25) with a majority of 109 votes. The vote, held at 6:10 p.m., saw 155 MPs voting in favor and 46 voting against the Bill.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, presented the Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill (Budget Speech) on February 17. A seven-day debate on the Bill was conducted from February 18 to February 25.
The Committee Stage debate will take place over 19 days, from February 27 to March 21, with the Third Reading vote scheduled for March 21 at 6:00 p.m.
