Seevali Arukgoda Appointed as New Director General of Sri Lanka Customs

The government has appointed Additional Director General of Sri Lanka Customs, Seevali Arukgoda, as the new Director General, effective today (26). With this appointment, Arukgoda becomes the 45th Head of Sri Lanka Customs.

He began his career in 1989 as an Assistant Superintendent and has achieved the rare distinction of being the first officer in the Department’s history to rise through every rank to reach its highest position.

Over his 36 years of service, Arukgoda has distinguished himself both locally and internationally. He is widely recognized for his contributions to the World Customs Organization (WCO), where he served two terms as an accredited expert, actively engaging in global initiatives on Customs and Border Management.

Arukgoda holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Buckinghamshire New University, United Kingdom, and a Master’s Degree in Customs Administration from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
