Showers and Strong Winds Forecast Across Several Parts of Sri Lanka

The Department of Meteorology says showers are expected at times today (30) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya.

According to the Department, fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some places in these areas.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at several locations in the Uva Province and in the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa after 2.00 p.m.

The Department also forecasts strong winds of 40–50 kmph at times over the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as the Trincomalee District.

The public has been advised to take adequate precautions against temporary localized strong winds, lightning, and other hazards associated with thundershowers.

Residents in areas prone to adverse weather conditions are urged to remain vigilant, monitor official weather updates, and follow the instructions issued by the relevant authorities to ensure their safety.
