Showers will occur at times in the Uva Province and in the Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Ampara, and Batticaloa districts today (07), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Several spells of showers are expected in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Hambantota district.
Showers or thundershowers may develop in many other areas after 2.00 p.m., with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm likely in some places.
Fairly strong winds, ranging from 30–40 kmph, can be expected at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, and in the Matale, Trincomalee, and Hambantota districts.
Misty conditions are likely in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, and in the Galle, Matara, and Badulla districts during the early morning hours.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize possible damage from localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
