The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, Northern, and North-Central Provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, and Trincomalee Districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely in some areas within these regions.
Elsewhere in the island, showers or thundershowers are expected to develop after 1:00 p.m.
Strong winds of 40–50 kmph may occur at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Western, Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Southern Provinces, and in the Trincomalee District.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
