Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces and in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya after 2.00 p.m. today (13), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm can be expected at some locations in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
A few showers may also occur in the Uva and Eastern provinces, the Meteorology Department said.
Mainly fair weather will prevail in other parts of the island.
Meanwhile, misty conditions can be expected in some areas of the Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the districts of Galle, Matara and Kurunegala during the early hours of the morning.
The general public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
