Weather Forecast for December 12
The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern and North-Central provinces and in the Puttalam and Trincomalee districts tomorrow (12).
Several spells of showers are also expected in the Central and Uva provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala, Ampara, and Batticaloa districts.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts after 1.00 p.m.
Misty conditions may occur in parts of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces during the early morning hours.
The Met Department urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea Areas
Showers are expected at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Mannar, Kankasanthurai, and Trincomalee.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur in other sea areas around the island during the evening or night.
Winds:

North-easterly winds at 30–40 km/h.

Wind speeds may increase to 50–55 km/h at times in the sea areas from Colombo to Mullaittivu via Puttalam and Kankasanthurai.

Sea areas from Colombo to Mullaittivu via Puttalam and Kankasanthurai will be rough at times.

Other sea areas will be moderate, but temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
