Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka said showers will occur at times in the Central, Uva, Eastern and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Hambantota district today (12).
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations in the Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Badulla, and Polonnaruwa districts. Several spells of showers are also expected in the Northern Province, the Department added.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may develop in several other areas after 2.00 p.m., with fairly heavy showers above 50 mm possible at some places.
Misty conditions are expected during the early morning hours in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Western provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
