The Department of Meteorology says showers are expected in some districts today, while mainly dry weather will prevail across the rest of the island.
A few showers are likely in the Northern Province and in the Trincomalee and Anuradhapura districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts after 2.00 p.m.
Misty conditions can also be expected in some areas of the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North Western provinces, as well as in the Anuradhapura, Mannar, Galle and Matara districts during the morning hours.
Meanwhile, a few showers are likely in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee via Mullaittivu, while mainly fair weather will prevail over other sea areas around the island.
Winds will be easterly to northeasterly in the sea areas off the coast from Kankasanthurai to Galle via Trincomalee, Pottuvil and Hambantota, while winds will be variable in direction in other sea areas around the island.
Wind speeds are expected to be around 20–30 kmph and may increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast from Kankasanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar.
Sea conditions in the areas from Kankasanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar will be moderate at times, while other sea areas around the island will remain slight.
