Showers Expected in Several Areas Today, Mostly Dry Weather Elsewhere

The Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka says showers are expected in a few parts of the country today, while mainly dry weather will prevail across most other areas.

According to the department, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places after 2.00 p.m. in the Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Hambantota, Nuwara Eliya and Ampara districts.

Morning Weather Conditions

Misty conditions can be expected during the morning hours in several areas including:

  • Western Province

  • Sabaragamuwa Province

  • Central Province

  • Southern Province

  • Uva Province

  • North-western Province

  • North-central Province

  • Mannar District

  • Vavuniya District

Sea Conditions

The department further stated that mainly fair weather will prevail in sea areas around the island.

  • Winds will be variable in direction with speeds of 20–30 kmph.

  • Sea areas around Sri Lanka are expected to be slight.

The public is advised to remain aware of local weather updates, particularly in areas where afternoon thundershowers are expected.
