Several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (19), according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Department said showers or thundershowers may also occur at a few places in the Ampara and Monaragala districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail across the rest of the island.
Strong winds of around 40 to 50 km/h are likely at times in the Northern, North Central and North Western provinces, as well as in the Matale, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
