Showers or thundershowers are expected at times today (22) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Department further stated that showers or thundershowers may occur at a few locations in the Uva and Eastern provinces after 2.00 p.m.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces and the Trincomalee District.
The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take adequate precautions against possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds, lightning, and other hazards associated with thundershowers.
Residents in areas prone to adverse weather conditions are advised to remain vigilant and follow weather updates and safety instructions issued by relevant authorities.
