Several spells of showers are expected today (15) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Department also stated that showers or thundershowers may occur at a few locations in the Uva and Eastern provinces and in the Mullaittivu District after 2.00 p.m.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds with speeds of around 30–40 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern and North-Central provinces, and the districts of Hambantota and Trincomalee.
The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds, lightning, and other hazards associated with thundershowers.
Residents in areas prone to adverse weather conditions are advised to remain vigilant and follow official weather updates and warnings issued by the relevant authorities.
