The Department of Meteorology forecasts several spells of showers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as in the districts of Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur in a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces, and in the Vavuniya and Mullaittivu districts during the afternoon or night.
Fairly strong winds of around 30-40 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Southern Province.
The general public is kindly advised to take adequate precautions to minimize the risk of damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
