The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers at times today (12) across the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts.
Several spells of rain are also expected in the North-western province, with a few showers possible in the Northern province. After 2:00 p.m., showers or thundershowers may occur in parts of Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of 30-40 km/h are likely over the Western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-central, North-western, Southern provinces, and Trincomalee district.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions against potential damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
