A few showers are expected today (23) in the coastal areas of the Western and North Western provinces, as well as in the Galle District, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers may also develop at a few places in the Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail across the rest of the island.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of 30–40 km/h are forecast at times over the Northern and North Central provinces, as well as the Hambantota and Puttalam districts.
The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimise the impact of temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
