A Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) crashed into the Maduru Oya Reservoir this morning (May 9), the SLAF confirmed.
According to an SLAF spokesperson, the incident occurred during a demonstration held as part of a passing-out ceremony.
At the time of the crash, 12 individuals were onboard the helicopter, including two pilots. Both pilots reportedly ejected safely and were rescued shortly after the incident.
In a later update, the SLAF confirmed that all 12 individuals onboard have been successfully rescued.
