The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has launched special bus services to Kataragama to facilitate devotees travelling for the annual festival of the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya.
The special bus services will operate from Colombo to Kataragama, as well as from the Eastern Province and the upcountry regions.
Passengers can reserve seats through the official SLTB website. In addition, two ticket reservation counters have been established at the Kataragama Bus Stand to provide greater convenience for travellers.
The service is primarily intended for devotees arriving in Kataragama on the traditional Pada Yatra pilgrimage from the Eastern and upcountry regions, as well as those travelling by regular transport from areas including Colombo and Kandy.
Accordingly, special buses will operate from Kataragama to Batticaloa, Panama, Trincomalee, Mutur, Valaichchenai, Pottuvil, Akkaraipattu, Vakarai and Kalmunai.
Additional special services have also been arranged from Kataragama to Colombo, Kandy, Hatton, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya and several other destinations to accommodate the expected increase in passenger demand during the festival period.
