Sri Lanka Police will implement a special security programme and traffic management plan for today’s Sri Lanka–Zimbabwe T20 World Cup match, scheduled to begin at 3.00 p.m. at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
Speaking at a media briefing, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Traffic Control and Road Safety, W.P.J. Senadheera, said stadium gates will open at 12.00 noon and urged spectators to arrive early to avoid congestion.
“We especially request spectators to come from noon onwards, as we expect to open the gates at that time. The match is scheduled to begin at 3.00 p.m. If you arrive early, it will prevent congestion and make it easier for us to carry out our duties,” he said.
He added that the same special security and traffic arrangements implemented during the recent India–Pakistan encounter will also apply to today’s match.
DIG Senadheera further noted that parking restrictions will be enforced on selected roads around the stadium, and vehicles will not be permitted to park in designated areas from noon onwards.
Police have appealed to the public to cooperate with officers on duty and follow traffic instructions to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all spectators.
