The “National War Heroes’ Commemoration Ceremony” is scheduled to be held today (19) at the Parliamentary Grounds in front of the National War Heroes Monument under the patronage of Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
In view of the event, Sri Lanka Police has announced a special traffic management plan.
Accordingly, vehicular traffic will be restricted along Parliament Road from the Polduwa Junction near Diyatha Uyana to Keangnam Junction from 3:30 p.m. today until the conclusion of the ceremony.
Alternative routes:
- Vehicles leaving Colombo via Parliament Road may travel through Polduwa Junction → Battaramulla → Palanthuna → Keangnam Junction.
- Vehicles entering Colombo from Keangnam Junction may proceed via Palanthuna and Battaramulla.
- Vehicles arriving from Rajamalwatta through Bodhiraja Mawatha may continue via Battaramulla Road toward their destinations.
Parking arrangements for buses and trucks:
- From Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Road Junction to Kimbulawala Junction
- Along Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Road from the Ceylon Electricity Board area up to Pelawatta
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes and expect delays in the Battaramulla area during the event period.
