SPMC to Introduce 10 New Pharmaceutical Products in 2026

The State Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Corporation (SPMC) of Sri Lanka has announced plans to introduce 10 new pharmaceutical products to the local market this year.

In a statement, the corporation said it expects to manufacture around 4,000 million tablets and capsules during the year. At present, the SPMC produces 70 different pharmaceutical products.

The SPMC recorded the highest pharmaceutical output in its history last year, with the production of 3,625 million tablets and capsules. The highest monthly production—385 million tablets and capsules—was achieved in March last year.

In 2025, the corporation introduced five new pharmaceutical products and ensured the uninterrupted supply of all orders placed by the Medical Supplies Division.

The statement also noted that the SPMC’s total revenue for 2025 amounted to Rs. 27.06 billion.
