A new anti-ragging help kit has been launched in Sri Lanka to support safer learning environments and improve access to guidance for students who face intimidation or abuse.
Daily Mirror reported the launch under the Rage Sri Lanka initiative on 21 July. The resource is intended to help students understand what constitutes ragging, identify available reporting channels and seek assistance before harmful conduct escalates.
Ragging remains a persistent concern in parts of Sri Lanka’s higher-education system, where fear of retaliation, social pressure and uncertainty about complaint procedures can discourage victims and witnesses from coming forward.
The usefulness of the new kit will depend on whether universities actively distribute it, train staff to respond consistently and ensure that students who report abuse receive protection, counselling and timely institutional action.
