Sri Lanka Customs has reported that approximately 1,800 containers are currently backlogged at Colombo Port.
To address the congestion, Additional Director General and Customs Spokesperson Seewali Arukgoda announced the launch of a four-day special operation, which began yesterday and will continue until February 2nd. The initiative aims to clear the backlog by Sunday, ensuring smoother port operations.
A full workforce has been deployed to expedite the clearance process, and Sri Lanka Customs has urged all relevant parties to extend their full cooperation for the success of this operation.
