Sri Lanka’s first automated rotary parking system has been officially launched, marking a major milestone in the country’s urban infrastructure and smart mobility development.
The high-tech system has been introduced by Hayleys Aventura, the industrial solutions arm of Hayleys PLC, to provide an efficient solution to the growing shortage of parking space in densely populated commercial areas.
The rotary parking system stores vehicles vertically rather than horizontally, allowing multiple vehicles to be parked in a compact space.
Drivers simply park their vehicle on a ground-level platform, after which the automated system lifts the vehicle and rotates an empty platform into position for the next user.
The technology eliminates the need for large ramps and access lanes commonly required in conventional multi-storey parking facilities, making it a more space-efficient solution.
According to the company, vehicles can be retrieved in as little as two and a half minutes.
The system is also equipped with advanced safety features, including facial recognition technology and real-time safety sensors to enhance security and prevent accidents. Since vehicles are stored above ground level, they are also better protected against theft and accidental damage.
The project supports Sri Lanka’s Smart City initiative by introducing modern, technology-driven urban infrastructure.
Hayleys Aventura has previously introduced a 40-vehicle Pit-Puzzle parking system in Bandarawela and a Stack parking system in Colombo.
The company said the new rotary parking system is expected to provide a cost-effective parking solution for apartment complexes, commercial buildings and other urban developments where land availability is limited.
