Sri Lanka today (18) marks 17 years since the end of the country’s more than three-decade armed conflict with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
To commemorate the military victory, a National Victory Day ceremony is scheduled to be held tomorrow (19) at the War Heroes Memorial under the patronage of Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The ceremony was announced by the War Heroes Service Authority, which stated that the annual commemoration tradition will continue this year as well.
According to the Authority, family members of fallen war heroes from the Northern and Eastern provinces are expected to participate in the event for the first time.
