Starting today, Sri Lankan police will strictly enforce laws against dangerous and unauthorized vehicle modifications across the country.
Authorities stated that vehicles equipped with illegal sound systems, flashing multi-colored lights, and unauthorized electrical accessories will face immediate legal action.
These modifications, commonly found in private vehicles and public transport, have raised serious safety and noise concerns. In addition, vehicles fitted with excessively loud silencers and noisy exhaust pipes will also be targeted under the new enforcement drive.
Police officers have been deployed island-wide to inspect vehicles and ensure compliance with the regulations.
