Sri Lanka Police Take Action Against 8,747 Traffic Violators in 24 Hours

Sri Lanka Police have initiated legal action against 8,747 motorists for traffic law violations, including 251 individuals caught driving under the influence of alcohol, within the last 24 hours.

As per instructions from the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), the ongoing island-wide traffic operation aims to curb road accidents during the festive season.

Police Spokesman SSP Buddika Manathunga confirmed that no fatal accidents were reported during this period, marking a positive outcome of the intensified operation.

The Sri Lanka Police urge the public to drive responsibly, avoid alcohol consumption, and comply with traffic regulations to ensure safety for all.
