Sri Lanka Records Over 240,000 Tourist Arrivals in February, Marking 10.2% YoY Growth

Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continued its upward momentum in February, welcoming 240,217 international visitors—a 10.2% year-on-year (YoY) increase, according to data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. This marks the second-highest February arrivals since 2019, though slightly lower than the 252,761 arrivals recorded in January 2025.

The average weekly arrival rate reached 60,054, while daily arrivals stood at 8,579. India remained the top source market, contributing 14.9% of total arrivals, followed by the Russian Federation (12.6%) and the United Kingdom (10.6%). Other key contributors included Germany (7.2%), France (6.4%), China (4.9%), Australia (3.7%), Poland (3.5%), and the United States (2.7%).

Total arrivals for the first two months of 2025 climbed to 492,978, reflecting a 15.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023. With this, Sri Lanka has achieved 16% of its ambitious goal of attracting three million visitors in 2025.
