The number of tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka this year has surpassed the 1.5 million mark, according to Minister of Tourism Vijitha Herath.
Data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) shows that a total of 1,500,656 tourists had visited the country as of 3:00 p.m. today (18).
The SLTDA further reported that 132,368 foreign nationals entered Sri Lanka during the month of August alone.
According to the latest figures, India remains the leading source market, with nearly 300,000 tourists recorded so far this year. Meanwhile, over 100,000 visitors each have arrived from both the United Kingdom and Russia in 2025.
