The Ministry of Trade, Commerce, and Food Security has announced plans to establish 160 small-scale rice mills across the country.
Deputy Minister R.M. Jayawardena confirmed that the necessary machinery for these rice mills has already been imported.
Each rice mill will be capable of producing 5,000 kilograms of rice daily, contributing significantly to local rice production.
The rice mills are primarily intended to empower women’s organizations, providing them with opportunities for income generation and community development.
