State Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe says nearly 1.2 million tourists have visited Sri Lanka so far in 2026.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo, the State Minister said tourist arrivals during the period have generated more than US$1.5 billion in foreign exchange earnings.
He expressed confidence that the continued growth of the tourism sector will enable Sri Lanka to achieve its target of attracting 2.5 million tourist arrivals by the end of 2026.
The State Minister added that the positive performance of the tourism industry is expected to make a significant contribution to the country’s economic recovery through increased foreign exchange earnings and tourism-related investments.
