Sri Lanka delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 World Athletics Bronze-Level Continental Tour in India, securing multiple medals and breaking national records across track and field events.
The men’s 400m relay team struck gold with a commanding time of 3 minutes, 8.22 seconds, underlining their dominance on the track. In the men’s javelin throw, Rumesha Tharanga set a new national record of 86.50 meters, clinching gold and earning automatic qualification for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. His remarkable throw currently places him 7th in the global rankings.
In the men’s 100m sprint, Chamod Yodhasinghe claimed silver with a time of 10.43 seconds, narrowly missing gold in a photo-finish contest. The women’s javelin throw saw Nadeesha Dilhani Lekamge secure silver with a solid mark of 54.96 meters, showcasing her consistency at the international level.
Adding to the medal tally, Sumeda Ranasinghe earned bronze in the men’s javelin throw with a throw of 80.65 meters, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s strength in the discipline.
