Sri Lankan High Commissioner Meets Pakistani Interior Minister to Discuss Repatriation and Bilateral Cooperation

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, (Retd) Admiral Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne, met with Pakistani Federal Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, in Islamabad on Friday.

During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest and the release of Pakistani nationals imprisoned in Sri Lanka.

It was decided that Pakistani prisoners who have been incarcerated in Sri Lankan jails for many years would be brought back within seven days.

Both sides agreed to complete the necessary steps for the repatriation of Pakistani prisoners in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner assured all possible support for the release of Pakistani prisoners. He emphasized that all steps are being finalized as soon as possible for the repatriation of Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Sri Lanka.

The meeting also covered anti-narcotics and border security issues.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan have strengthened over time. He emphasized the need for urgent steps to further develop mutual relations.

Mohsin Naqvi also highlighted the importance of promoting cooperation in counter-narcotics and border security.

High Commissioner Admiral Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne reiterated that Sri Lanka attaches great importance to its ties with Pakistan.
