Sri Lanka’s Annual Birth Rate Drops Significantly; Expert Warns of Rising Health Challenges for Children

Sri Lanka’s annual birth rate has experienced a sharp decline, dropping from 350,000 to 250,000, according to Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Deepal Perera.

Dr. Perera highlighted a concerning rise in vulnerabilities among children, with increasing cases of conditions such as autism, cancer, and diabetes.

Under these challenging circumstances, he stressed the critical importance of taking proactive measures to protect and support children’s health.
